Use the API on a proxy network
Choose a proxy integration or give a backend access to shared skin storage.
SkinsRestorer 15.12.6Velocity / BungeeCord integrations and proxy backendsReviewed
Choose where your integration runs before configuring storage.
Integration on the proxy
Call the API from the proxy plugin and use that platform's player type. The proxy owns the ordinary saved selection and skin command behavior.
A backend can communicate with your proxy plugin using an appropriate plugin-message protocol. Validate message sources and payloads in your integration.
Integration on a backend
You need all of these:
- Correct player identity and profile forwarding.
- SkinsRestorer on the proxy and backend.
server.proxyMode.api: trueon the backend.- The same MySQL or PostgreSQL database and table prefix on both instances.
- Working database access and successful API initialization on the backend.
File storage does not support backend API initialization in proxy mode.
Configure and check
- Back up the current storage.
- Configure shared SQL storage on the proxy and API-enabled backends.
- Restart the affected instances.
- Inspect database and API initialization logs.
- Change a skin through the proxy.
- Resolve the same player's selected identifier through the backend plugin.
- Switch backends and check the visible skin.
Matching server names alone does not prove matching player UUIDs. Inspect forwarded identity if records disagree.
If the provider is unavailable
SkinsRestorerProvider.get() can throw when backend storage initialization fails. A plugin load-order dependency cannot fix missing shared storage.
If no backend plugin needs the API, disable backend API access and keep ordinary proxy skin forwarding. Use proxy troubleshooting.
