Requirements and compatibility

Match the SkinsRestorer artifact, Minecraft version, and Java runtime.

SkinsRestorer 15.12.6All platformsReviewed

There are three release artifacts: a server/proxy plugin, a Fabric mod, and a NeoForge mod. Mod builds target specific Minecraft versions.

Server and proxy plugins

Use the server/proxy artifact on Bukkit-compatible servers, BungeeCord, and Velocity. Choose a Java runtime that satisfies both your platform and the plugin release.

The platform can require a newer Java version than SkinsRestorer. Read Paper's requirements or Velocity's requirements for your exact release.

Forks and hybrid mod/plugin servers can change profile behavior. A successful startup alone does not prove compatibility. Reproduce problems on an upstream platform before you report a platform conflict.

Fabric and NeoForge 15.12.6

The source for this release targets Minecraft 26.3. The Fabric metadata requires Java 25 or newer and Fabric Loader 0.16.0 or newer. The build uses Fabric Loader 0.19.5.

The NeoForge build targets NeoForge 26.3.0.7-beta. Use the loader and Java runtime required by that Minecraft release. An older Minecraft server needs a matching older SkinsRestorer mod artifact.

These values come from the release build configuration and Fabric metadata.

Clients and networks

Players do not need the Bukkit plugin on their client. The server sends skin properties to Java clients. Client skin mods can override those properties.

A proxy network needs correct UUID and profile forwarding before skin troubleshooting. For Velocity, use the official forwarding guide.

Bedrock clients and custom client renderers can handle skins differently. Do not use their appearance as the only check of a Java server skin change.

Downloads and dependencies

Use the packaged release artifact, rather than a raw development JAR. The Fabric release bundles Fabric API, Cloud, and the Fabric permissions API. If the loader reports a missing dependency, inspect the artifact and loader versions first.
