A command is denied

Find the effective permission and the platform that owns the command.

SkinsRestorer 15.12.6All platformsReviewed

A permission error is different from a network error. /sr status cannot diagnose a missing command permission.

Find the permission

  1. Read the complete error message.
  2. Find the command in the command reference.
  3. Inspect the player's effective permission with your permission manager.
  4. Check parent grants, explicit denials, and server-specific contexts.

For a skin URL, inspect skinsrestorer.command.set.url. For history, inspect skinsrestorer.command.undo. For the menu, inspect skinsrestorer.command.gui.

Check the correct instance

On a network, a backend permission grant can leave a proxy command denied. Apply permissions on the proxy when the proxy owns /skin.

A server listed in proxy.notAllowedCommandServers.list can block commands independently of permissions. The default block list contains auth.

Check additional restrictions

  • Per-skin access needs skinsrestorer.skin.<name> when enabled.
  • An allowed command does not bypass a disabled skin or URL restriction.
  • A cooldown is a timing restriction, not a missing permission.
  • A disabled command needs configuration and a restart, not another grant.

Check the fix

Use a regular player account. Run one allowed command and one denied command. Operator access or broad wildcards can hide an incorrect group configuration.

Read player access to design the grants, or collect diagnostics if the effective permission and command result disagree.
